Collectors' Circle Moving Art: Nigeria on the World Stage

Join MOWAA for this panel session at Mbari Kola: The Arts Society exploring the power of international cultural exchange, and how global participation and local infrastructure work hand in hand to elevate West African artistic practice and narratives.

The panel considers the global visibility and attendant mobility of African-owned art as a litmus test for ecosystem maturation. The discussion looks at how international representation combats the narrowing of African artistic perspectives, opens market opportunities, and expands pathways for contemporary artists and patrons alike. It turns, too, to the logistical and relational challenges that need solving, and to how institutions, curators and private collectors are navigating these efforts.

We invite Sophie Konstanzia Drewett, Registrar at MOWAA; Hannah O’Leary, Art Historian and Advisor at HOLFA; and Femi Lijadu, Art Patron and Collector, to share their perspectives. Bimpe Nkontchou will be our moderater for the evening.
